RULES, TERMS & CONDITIONS

Those who have made reservations or are planning to visit the kNOw Carbon House must agree to and abide by the following terms and conditions:

Individual tour booking

  1. Individuals can make reservations through the online booking system 3 to 30 days prior to the date of visit. Reservations for less than 3 days or more than 30 days from the date of visit will not be accepted.
  2. Each individual booking can contain up to 5 registrants including the applicant.
  3. The maximum group size is 20 people.
  4. New bookings for the next day are accepted at the booking system at 00:00 daily.
  5. Bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis. Each applicant is only allowed to visit once within a 30-day period.
  6. Individual bookings can include guided tour programme.
  7. All entrances and exits of the kNOw Carbon House are with staircases. Before planning a visit, applicants are advised to assess the actual physical condition of themselves and their companion members, consider whether they are fit to participate in the programme, and consider whether they need to be accompanied and assisted by a caregiver.
  8. If wheelchair users plan to visit the kNOw Carbon House, please contact the kNOw Carbon House in advance, the staff can further understand the needs and make corresponding arrangements.

Organisation tour booking

  1. Organisations can make reservations through the online booking system from 31 to 90 days prior to the date of visit.
  2. Only local organisation applications are accepted for the time being.
  3. Maximum number of persons of an organisation booking is 25 (including accompanying staff or caregivers).
  4. The same organisation may visit the kNOw Carbon House a maximum of two times in a month, except for applications from schools.
  5. Reservations will be made on a first-come-first-served basis and applicants are required to submit valid supporting documents of the organisations concerned.
  6. All entrances and exits of the kNOw Carbon House are staircases. Before planning a visit, applicants are advised to assess the actual physical condition of themselves and their companion members, consider whether they are fit to participate in the programme, and consider whether they need to be accompanied and assisted by a caregiver.
  7. If the organisation arranges a visit for the elderly, children or disabled persons, the person-in-charge of the organisation should arrange sufficient manpower to take care of such persons. If the organisation arranges a visit for people with special needs, please contact the kNOw Carbon House in advance so that our staff can further understand the needs and make appropriate arrangements.

Activity booking

  1. Complete and submit the online enrolment form
  2. Availability is limited, allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, with registration closing once capacity has been reached.
  3. For each activity, each applicant is allowed to reserve only once, any duplicate reservations will be considered invalid.
  4. Each activity has details and notes, prospective participants are advised to review the individual activity page thoroughly prior to making a reservation.
  5. All entrances and exits of the kNOw Carbon House are with staircases. Before planning a visit, applicants are advised to assess the actual physical condition of themselves and their companion members, consider whether they are fit to participate in the programme, and consider whether they need to be accompanied and assisted by a caregiver.
  6. If wheelchair users plan to visit the kNOw Carbon House, please contact the staff of kNOw Carbon House in advance so as to further understand the needs and make corresponding arrangements.

Confirmation / Changes / Cancellation of Reservation

When you make a reservation or visit the kNOw Carbon House, you fully agree to the following:

  1. Failure to provide sufficient, correct or clear information may affect the processing time and result of the application.
  2. Once an individual booking is confirmed, the applicant will receive confirmation by email within 3 days.
  3. Results of organisation applications will be received within 5 days. All successful applicants are required to present the confirmation email/QR Code to the staff on the day of visit for registration.
  4. Once an activity reservation is confirmed, the applicant will receive a confirmation by email within 3 days.
  5. All successful applicants are required to present the confirmation email/QR Code to the staff on the day of visit for registration.
  6. All reservation is non-transferable once accepted.
  7. Should you require to amend contact person's details, please email [email protected] to update the details.
  8. Cancellation of tour booking must be made at least 3 days (for individual booking) or 7 days (for organisation booking) prior to the date of visit via the online booking system (for individual booking only) or by email (for individual booking and organisation booking). Late cancellation will be regarded as no-show.
  9. Cancellation of activity booking must be made at least 3 days prior to the date of activity via the online system or by email. Late cancellation will be regarded as no-show.
  10. Once a reservation is confirmed, it cannot be changed unless arrangements are made to reduce the number of visitors. If there is a need to increase the number of visitors, a new application should be submitted.
  11. Three accumulative no-show cases within one year by an individual applicant will result in his/her booking right being suspended for 3 months following the last date of no-show. For organisation booking, if the booked party is absent or if the actual number of visitors is less than half of the registered number, the organisation’s booking rights will be suspended for 3 months from the date of visit/no-show.
  12. The kNOw Carbon House does not commission any third party profit-making organisation to arrange visits. It reserves the right to cancel an application for a visit for any reason, including if any person or organisation is found to be charging any fees for the visit.

Visits and Tours

  1. Hours of operation of the kNOw Carbon House are as follows:
    Tuesdays to Sundays including all Public Holidays (except the Lunar New Year’s Day and the second day of Lunar New Year) 10:00 – 18:00
    Chinese New Year's Eve, Winter solstice and Christmas Eve 10:00 – 16:00
    Mondays, The Lunar New Year’s Day and the second day of Lunar New Year Closed
  2. Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or above.
  3. Guided tours (individual bookings) are limited to a maximum of 20 participants.
  4. Guided tours (organisation application) may have up to 25 participants, including any accompanying staff or caregivers.
  5. No activities, banners, buntings, display of publicity materials, photography, videotaping or any other form of recordings, including but not limited to, relating to or for media or commercial purposes are allowed unless with prior written approval.
  6. Please follow staff instructions at all times.
  7. No cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, hazardous or inflammable items are allowed.
  8. Pets are not allowed (except guide dogs).
  9. No unauthorised events, demonstrations, speeches or other public performances are allowed.
  10. No cycling, scootering, rollerblading, skateboarding or ball games are allowed
  11. No flying kites, remote-controlled models or other similar devices are allowed
  12. Do not write on, mark, soil or damage any exhibits, installations, walls or facilities.
  13. For safety reason, do not access restricted areas.
  14. Do not leave personal belongings unattended. All found items shall be returned to our office.

Arrangements under Inclement Weather Conditions

Visitors should pay attention to the following inclement weather arrangements. The kNOw Carbon House will not notify organisations affected by inclement weather.

Signal is hoisted before opening hours Signal is expected to be hoisted within two hours during the opening hours
The kNOw Carbon House will re-open 3 hours after the signal is lowered. If the signal is still in force at 13:00, the kNOw Carbon House will be closed for the whole day. The kNOw Carbon House will be closed and visitors will be arranged to leave as soon as possible.
Black Rainstorm Warning
Warning is issued before opening hours Warning is issued during opening hours
The kNOw Carbon House will re-open 3 hours after the warning is lifted. If the warning is still in force at 13:00, the kNOw Carbon House will be closed for the whole day. The indoor facilities will remain open until normal closing time or until it is safe for visitors to leave. Outdoor facilities will be closed until the rainstorm warning is lifted.
Thunderstorm Warning / Amber Rainstorm Warning / Red Rainstorm Warning / Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 / Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3
If the warning/signal is in force before or during the opening hours – the kNOw Carbon House will remain open. The kNOw Carbon House reserves the right to close all outdoor facilities at its discretion and arrange for visitors to remain in indoor areas.
